In New York City…still photographs and slideshow are of children from Syliah’s school P.S. 176 exploring playthings at a ribbon cutting ceremony on January 10, 2008 in “Syliah’s Playground dedicated to and named after Syliah. The foundation’s first initiative was to restore and renovate the kindergarten playground at Syliah’s school. The renovation of the playground was made possible with $350,000 in capital funding secured by Council Member Leroy Comrie (D-27 District) and is the culmination of a successful initiative led by the Syliah Volmar Foundation. Said, Council Member Comrie, “… I am thankful to be able to play a small role in securing funding for this renovation, Future generations of children will enjoy this playground and their enjoyment will be a tribute to the memory of Syliah Volmar. I also want to thank Principal Arlene Bartlett and her staff, Assistant Principal Marcelle Hughley, as well as Cheryl Caddle and the parents of P.S. 176 for their support and efforts.”

SYLIAH VOLMAR FOUNDATION - TRAVEL TO HAITI, September 25 – October 11, 2016 – STUDENT ENROLLMENT REPORT On Sunday September 25, 2016 the Syliah Volmar Foundation went on its annual trip to Haiti to meet prospective new students as well as old, their families and the administration of the various schools regarding student registration and enrollment for “funding the education of children in Haiti” sponsorships. This school year, in addition to Institution Univers, we welcome students to two others schools, College De L’Etoile De Ouanaminthe and Externat Saint Francois d’ Assise. During the Foundation’s visit in Haiti (a trip personally expensed by traveler), Board Member, Huguette Volmar RN, Executive Director, with SVF volunteers ambassador in Haiti, Mr. Fritzner Alexandre and Ms. Avelina Emmanuel together met the administration of say schools. New students sponsored by the Foundation, were selected based on academic performance/potential and financial hardship. As of to date the Foundation had helped a total of … students. This year, the SVF meeting with students and parents took place Sunday 10/2/2016 at Syliah’s Center in Ouanaminthe Haiti where we reviewed and discussed the foundation’s guidelines. The families involved shared their stories of hardship and expressed their joy of hope. Photos of the event be viewed online at www.syliah.org or on facebook.com/Syliah Volmar Foundation We infinitely appreciate your donations as we continue our mission. The Syliah Volmar Foundation is to provide financial assistance towards education to as many children in Haiti, in the impoverished City of Ouanaminthe. Many families lack adequate resources to help pay for their children's education. The foundation provides funds for tuition, books, uniforms, food and other school related expenses. Please Note: There is no minimum requirement for contributions; all monetary gifts are earmarked toward a child’s tuition. Please note, though, that by making a tax deductible donation of $250 or more, one child will have his or her tuition paid in full for one school year. It is a chance of a lifetime for these children. If you wish to commit to sponsoring one child or wish to send a personal contribution, please act now.
